For years, I created under the name Esther Rose.

It gave me a starting point, and it served its purpose. But it also felt like a version of me that only told part of the story. Esther Rose was wedding and event stationery only, beautiful, intentional, and very neatly defined. And while that worked for a while, it also meant keeping everything contained. If you’re a creative, you’ll know how quickly those neat little boxes can start to feel… slightly confining. Just weddings. Just stationery.

Like a walking cliché, we went to Paris and things shifted.

Not to sound dramatic, but the light, the colours, the facades, the texture and design everywhere (everywhere). It reminded me that creativity doesn’t have to be filtered to be valid. I started sharing what I was noticing, my art, sketches, travels, flowers: not just what fit neatly under the label I gave myself.

My heart still flutters when I remember how it felt to have people actually respond: not just to the work, but to me.

That was the turning point. I realised I didn’t want to keep creating behind a name that felt like someone else. I wanted the work to reflect all of me, that’s how Lys in Colour was born.

What began as a love for thoughtful stationery has grown into something broader and more expressive. It’s still rooted in care, storytelling, and details, but now there’s even more room to move. Wedding stationery remains a big part of my world. I am so thrilled to be chosen to help couples translate their love story into stationery they will cherish forever.

Alongside that I offer custom artwork, sketches of much-loved homes, dog portraits (always). Pieces shaped around memory: a flower, a place, a quiet reference that means everything to the person it’s for. I listen closely and create work that feels personal, even when it’s hard to put into words.

More recently, I’ve been collaborating with brands and businesses who want something more considered, illustration and design that goes beyond aesthetics and actually connects.

So now, it’s stationery, artwork, design, and creativity, expressed in full colour.

Love, Lys x
